ΟΧΙ ΑΛΛΟ ΣΩΣΙΜΟ Σκίτσα 2010-2015
- Reward Points: 13
The outbreak of the great capitalist crisis found Greece in the eye of the storm. From George Papandreou's announcement in Kastellorizo in April 2010 to the signing of the 3rd Memorandum by the Tsipras government, not just a few eventful years passed, but an entire lifetime. With his pen as a weapon, cartoonist Yiannis Antonopoulos (John Antóno) captured his perspective on the events that shook Greek society during the implementation of the "national salvation" memorandums. The album "ΟΧΙ ΑΛΛΟ ΣΩΣΙΜΟ" (NO MORE SALVATION) includes a selection of cartoons widely circulated between 2010 and 2015 on the internet and in the weekly newspaper Dromos tis Aristeras (Road of the Left). This marks the first presentation of political cartoons by the young and rising cartoonist, known as John Antóno, with a foreword by the beloved Soloup.
Yiannis Antonopoulos was born in Marousi in 1985. He holds a degree in History and Archaeology from the School of Philosophy at the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens (EKPA) and is a graduate of the Ornerakis School of Applied Arts. He is completing his postgraduate studies on the topic of Greek cartoons during the Cold War at the Department of Political Science and History at Panteion University.
He is involved in political cartoons, children's illustration, and storyboard creation while working as a teacher of drawing and comics. His self-published works include The Enormous Ego of Mr. Mo (2012) and The Pumpkins (2015). His creations are frequently posted on his blog: http://johnantono.blogspot.gr.
